Relocation Italy
General Information:
Often nicknamed "the boot of Europe" Italy is a member of the European Union foundation. It was in 1946 that the monarchy was replaced by the parliamentary democracy that exists today.
Economy:
Italy is the sixth world economic power and the first exporter of luxury goods. Its production is mostly based on the food industry (olive oil, wine, etc.) and on the car and clothes manufacturing industry. Moreover, Italy is the fifth most popular vacation site worldwide.
Education:
School is mandatory from the age of 6 to 14 and all children must do a professional formation up to their 18th birthday. Education is free for all children living in the country.
Health:
All inhabitants are registered at the public health insurance fund. The Italian system is in place since the 1970s and is of a very good quality. The quota of doctors per inhabitant is one of the highest in Europe.
Expatriates:
The expatriates' favourite destinations in Italy are Rome, Milan, Florence and Genoa. By general standards, the smaller apartments are rented furnished while the larger ones are rented empty. We recommend not to start a housing search in August and December as real estates agencies are often closed during these periods.
Rent price trends in Paris and Berlin
Rent prices in both European cities have increased by an average of around 7% in the last 12 months. However, this increase hardly reveals anything about the actual rental market situation as the trends in the capitals of both neighbouring countries could not be more different.
